The flagship dvd disc changer that we recommend is the sony DVP-CX777ES-BK. Most disc changers allow you to connect a computer keyboard to the changer and enter the disc info instead of remembering disc 101 is your favorite dvd. The RS-232 serial control is what seperates this unit from the pack. RS-232 allows for 2 way communication (send/receive). So you can send control commands to the unit like pause, play, stop. You can also pull information from the unit like disc information. A small amount of discs store the disc info, coverart, etc. on the disc. We've noticed most dvd's made by Sony Pictures have the disc information and art embedded on the disc. But, combine this changer with a control system, and you can connect to the Internet. Then you get all the disc information like coverart, actors, genre, disc title for almost any disc.

We're waiting for Sony to introduce a HD-DVD and/or Bluray DVD changer. But there are Video servers that serve this function. Ask us for more information about HD Video Servers. |
